10 Ways To Nourish The Soul

It’s easy to feel lost in life sometimes, when we’re out of sync with ourselves it can take the form of feeling lost or lacking direction or purpose. This is why taking the time to nourish our souls – the thing that is so hard to define but is so crucial to our wellbeing – is so important in our daily lives. Today I’m suggesting 10 different ways you can nourish your soul, to be done at your own pace, in your own time, when and if you feel like it.

So, here’s my 10 ways to nourish the soul:

Meditation:

Setting up a meditation space, lighting a candle or an incense stick and just focusing on breathwork can be a great way to get back in tune with ourselves. It can help reduce stress, improve mood and for those who hold spiritual beliefs, meditation is a profound way to get in touch with your higher self, your angels, spirit guides – whatever you believe in. Get Out Into Nature:

Getting out into nature is a great way to ground yourself and nourish the soul. When in and amongst the trees, soaking in the sun and being at one with your surroundings, you’ll often find a boost in productivity and energy levels as a result. It’s also a great way to get back in tune with yourself when you feel out of sync and can be a very spiritual experience.

Yoga:

Yoga brings together the mind and body in such a way that it can leave you feeling rejuvenated afterwards. I’ve done a post about the 4 different ways yoga helps me if you would like to give that a read.

Practise Self-Care:

Looking after yourself emotionally and physically is one way to get in tune with your soul and nourish it. Sometimes it’s the little things that add up to leaving you feeling better. Pursue A Hobby:

Whether that’s painting or baking, music or crochet, pursuing a hobby that piques your interest is a great way to nourish your soul.

Read or Watch something inspirational and uplifting:

Reading or even watching something inspirational and/or uplifting is a great way to shift your perspectives, change the way you think and can leave you feeling warm afterwards.

Write/Journal:

Whether it’s journaling your day, writing down how you feel or practising gratitude through a gratitude list, I’ve done a post all about how to practise gratitude and the mental health benefits of journaling if you fancy a read, writing or journaling can really help you emotionally.

Declutter your life:

Decluttering your life can take many different forms, from old clothing you haven’t worn in over a year to decluttering your social media feeds of accounts that don’t uplift or inspire you. Clearing out your life can feel so therapeutic and can clear your mind of a lot of worries.

Exercise Regularly:

Looking after your physical health can in turn help you both emotionally and spiritually. Exercising regularly has proven benefits at alleviating stress through the release of endorphins and can help you feel more in tune with yourself.

Eat Healthy Food:

I don’t know about you but I always feel better after I eat healthily and nourishing your soul can come in the form of the simplest of things like having a decent meal.

  1. Amazing post! I journal and exercise daily and have found that my soul feels much lighter. Maybe I’ll try to meditate but we’ll see. I tend to just fall asleep when I meditate.

  2. Love this post! Spiritual self care that nourishes the soul is SO important and something a lot of people overlook. This is something I’ve had to work really hard on over the last month as I’ve felt so lost and depressed. I’m slowly getting back into my soulful habits, like Yoga and getting into nature and it’s definitely helping me heal!

  3. This was a fab post! I must admit that all of these 10 things really help nourish the soul. Decluttering is a big one for me. I can’t function when there’s a clutter. I love journaling as well. It’s therapeutic. Practicing self care is a big MUST!

  5. Could I get permission to print this list and paste it in my journal for a constant reminder? What great ways to nourish a soul! I have started meditation again, which I get so excited to do. Also some journaling and yoga too. Absolutely love just writing things down and moving my body in different ways with yoga.

  6. I am still trying to get back into exercise and eating better, but I find yoga, going out for a morning walk and journalling are huge helps. I think I need to take a day something soon to work through all of these and just rest and recharge. I wrote about rest and recharge (https://whimsiesoffayewilde.com/let-us-discover-the-magic-of-rest-and-recharge/) but have been struggling to find a place of genuine rest and soul nourishment.   7. I knew I was going to love this post just from reading the title! This post is incredible – so many wonderful ideas. For myself decluttering and nature walks are big for me allowing my mind and body a chance to decompress. Getting genuine rest some days is just so tough! Thanks for sharing this great list 🙂

  9. I’ve always found nature to be one of the best ways to make myself feel better, there’s something so peaceful about connecting with nature! I also love a bit of yoga, it’s good for stretching out those worries physically and mentally!
